Former British Ambassador to Syria Peter Ford gave an assessment of London's policy towards Russia after the resignation of Prime Minister Boris Johnson. His words are transmitted by RIA Novosti.
 
According to Ford, after Johnson's resignation, the UK will not change its attitude towards Russia. "Johnson's main legacy, which is likely to be developed by his successor, will be his hostile attitude against Russia, most British experts consider this one of his few "achievements" and are ready to give him credit for it," he said. The Ambassador noted that the future Prime Minister will not face the task of changing the position on Brexit, Russia and Ukraine.
 
However, the tone and sharpness of the rhetoric against Russia in connection with Ukraine may decrease somewhat, Ford suggested. He explained that the successor, unlike Johnson himself, would not need to distract the public from scandals. "A small hope glimmers in the fact that Johnson's successor will not be tempted to throw dust in the eyes on the topic of Ukraine," he concluded.
 
Johnson announced his retirement on July 7. He assured that he would fulfill his obligations until the appointment of a new head of the Cabinet of Ministers. In addition, the politician announced that he was leaving the post of leader of the Conservative Party.
